Study Away in 2025-2026

Posted On: January 07, 2025, 11:03 am

Are you considering studying away next year? All students considering study abroad or domestic study in fall 2025, spring 2026, or full year 2025-2026 must complete steps 1-3 of the Study Away Approval Checklist by Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Choosing your semester is important! Please consult with your academic advisor(s) to learn when any Amherst courses that you need or may wish to take are offered, and let that be your guide for choosing your semester. Please note that spring programs are over-subscribed and are far more competitive than fall programs. If you are able to study away in the fall semester, GEO highly recommends you choose this option as nearly all fall students are admitted to their top-choice program.

Once you've chosen your semester, complete the checklist associated with that term. You will not be able to change your semester after submitting the Checklist, though you can withdraw your Checklist if you decide not to study away. April 1st is a hard deadline for choosing your semester to study away - no exceptions will be made for late submissions!

You can browse programs using the Search Programs tab and let the exploration begin!

Greetings from GEO!

Here you can:

  1. Browse approved programs. You can use the search function to narrow the program list by country, language of instruction, etc.

  2. Complete steps in the Study Away Approval Checklist. (The checklist for study away in spring 2025 was due April 1 and there are no late submissions. The checklist for 2025-2026 is open for students interested in studying away anytime in the 2025-2026 academic year.)

  3. Register your trip for college-sponsored off-campus travel, e.g., short-term trips, semester or year study away.
Looking to make an appointment to talk about your study away options? Make sure you've attended a Study Away 101 Session first! Then you can meet with a GEO advisor by using Penji. Students can make appointments online or in the app.
